Best Practice Network

Working in collaboration, BPN provide a nationally led and locally delivered range of quality professional development and accredited training programmes, for all education professionals.
Through our partnership with BPN, we are pleased to offer the full suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs), now also including NPQ for SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators). Whether you are looking to enhance your leadership skills or are more interested in speciality areas such as leadership, literacy or early years, there is an NPQ for you.
We can offer participants local groups, led by experienced local facilitators, in the following National Professional Qualifications:
- Executive Leadership (NPQEL)
- Headship (NPQH)
- Senior Leadership (NPQSL)
- Leading Teaching (NPQLT)
- Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD)
- Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC)
- Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO)
- Early Years Leadership (NPQEYL)
- Leading Literacy (NPQLL)
- NPQ for SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators) New for Autumn 2024
CHANGES TO FUNDING: DfE funding has changed for the National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) commencing in Autumn 2024. Only a small number of NPQs will continue to be funded for all teachers and leaders from publicly funded schools and these programmes are:
- NPQ for SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators) (flyer attached at bottom of page)
- NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship)
- Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO)
Funding eligibility for remaining NPQs. Scholarship funding will be available to those schools with the highest proportion of pupils eligible for pupil premium funding, or 16 to 19 settings, with ‘high disadvantage’. The number of funded places has been capped nationally across all training providers.
APPLY NOW! The application deadline to apply for scholarship funding for all programmes is 1st July 2024. Due to the limited number of eligible funded places early application, before the deadline date, is strongly advised

If applicants apply and are unsuccessful in securing a funded place, they will be given the opportunity to continue on a ‘self-funded’ basis or withdraw their application.
Leadership Apprenticeships (Leader Programmes with NPQ)
In addition to the above NPQs, in partnership with BPN, we are pleased to support delivery of the Leadership Apprenticeships. The following apprenticeship programmes offer a standalone NPQ, with the added benefits of extended leadership training, extra content & resources and the wraparound support offered by a dedicated Apprenticeship Tutor:
- Senior Leadership (Level 5)
- Headship (Level 7)
- Executive Leadership (Level 7)
Funding: Funding comes by way of a school's Apprenticeship Levy pot, therefore offering an excellent alternative, if you are unsuccessful in securing a funded NPQ place.
